Something new...just to make it interesting...spice it up a bit!
I came across these little (I mean really mini) squash yesterday at Overwaitea.
They looked so cute I just had to take them home.
(and they only took 6 minutes to boil to perfection)
Trying to change your eating habits does take a little more time than just going into the grocery store in brain 'dead mode' like I usually do. But when I am more interested in what I am about to purchase it is actually much more enjoyable. I search the shelves for new and interesting food, and I take time to read all the nutritional labels.
I look for food that will be rewarding to eat and will substitute the "treats" or "bad" choices. For example I must confess...when i grocery shop I usually buy myself a small package of wine gums at the checkout to snack on while I drive home. So, yesterday I looked at the package of wine gums at the checkout and thought about how yummy they would taste and then I thought of what I could eat instead that would be a good choice. Something sweet, yummy and healthy....
...I stopped at Truscotts fruit stand on the way home and bought myself a beautiful fresh pear. It was so yummy and sweet and I felt so much better eating it than the guilt I feel when I am sneaking my wine gums.
Tip of the Day...Get out of "brain dead" mode and look at your food in a new perspective.
Have a good day everyone!
